The darting, stopping, bouncing, stalling, juggled, geometric forms of Tarrence Corbin's
monumental multi-paneled paintings create the sensation of watching a Johnny Woo action
flick from the seat of a roller coaster. While his art echoes the polyrhythmic,
multi-dominant instrumental effects of bebop jazz, classic R&B, and nasty funk, Corbin
is equally inspired by the technical exquisiteness, illusionary effects, and geometric
clarity of the Italian Renaissance. Imagine if Paolo Uccello heard James Brown holler
after pleading, "Please, please, please, please."
